Resumo
Como é sabido, no grego antigo o termo philía ganha uma gama de significados que indicam o afeto, o apego, a amizade que, por sua vez, podem verificar-se quer entre indivíduos, quer entre comunidades ou organismos politicamente constituídos, como as cidades: ou então o amor, desde o sexual ao que comporta paixão ou ternura entre os amantes, questão que ocupará este texto voltado aos fragmentos de Demócrito.

It is known that in ancient Greek the term philia acquired a range of meanings that indicate affection, attachment, friendship (which are observable between individuals, or communities or politically constituted organisms such as cities), or also love, from love inits sexual form to love as passion ortenderness between lovers – a question that will be dealt with in this text by reference to fragments from Democritus.

Abstract
The Theaetetus fails to discuss the Theory of Forms, not because it is a late dialogue written when Plato had changed his mind, but because it is about how mathematics poses impediments to philosophical understanding. It illustrates what happens when one tries to get people to advance to a grasp of the Forms who, like Theaetetus and Theodorus, are not able or not ready to advance to ir. Mathematcis may be a stepping stone to philosophy but only if mathematicians can be got to transcend its limits.

O Teeteto falha ao discutir a Teoria das Formas, não porque é um diálogo tardio, escrito quando Platão mudou seu pensamento, mas porque ele diz respeito a como os matemáticos colocam impedimentos ao entendimento filosófico. Ilustra o que acontece quando alguém experimentado que pretenda compreender as Formas, como Teeteto e Teodoro, não estão aptos ou não as alcançam. As matemáticas podem ser um trampolim filosófico, mas somente se os matemáticos transcenderem seus limites.

Resumo
Aristóteles distingue três tipos de amizades: a amizade da virtude, do prazer e da utilidade. Todas essas exigem que os amigo se amem reciprocamente e que seu amor não fique escondido ao outro. Porém há outro critério da amizade referente ao qual o texto parece ser vago: a benevolência, que em primeira instância, faz parte da definição geral da amizade. Vou referir-me, principalmente, aos capítulos III e IV do oitavo livro da Ética a Nicômaco, oferecendo uma interpretação de algumas passagens que me parece nova.

Aristotle distinguishes three kinds of friendship; that of virtue, of pleasure and of utility. All of them require that friends love each other and that their love be not hidden from each other. However, there is another criterion of friendship regarding which the text appears to be vague: benevolence wich, in the first instance, is part of the general definition of friendship. I will be referring particularly to chapters III and IV of the eighth book of the Nicomachean Ethics, offering what I believe to be a new interpretation of some passages.
